Heartland Mutual Insurance has an excellent opportunity in our Direct Sales Department for a Direct Sales Representative II.

Direct Sales Representative II – New Minas, Nova Scotia

What you will do…

Sales and Marketing

  • Handle inbound and initiate outbound calls regarding leads for home, auto, BizPak and BizFarm quotes and inquiries.
  • Complete risk assessments over the phone and obtain the appropriate information to complete accurate insurance quotes.
  • Manage renewal process by gathering required information, cross selling, account rounding and presenting renewals as required.
  • Promote the company brand and services/products offered to customers.
  • Request referrals from existing clients to help grow the book of business.
  • Utilize Heartland’s industry leading technology to distribute our insurance product offerings more efficiently.

Policyholder Service and Relations

  • Provide exceptional service to client queries and recommend coverage solutions.
  • Keep exceptional client file documentation including x-referencing when multiple entities are owned by clients or prospects.
  • Process policy changes that are within binding authority, preparing, and submitting documents for policy changes that are outside authority.
  • Process endorsements and new policies in quantum where applicable.
  • Handle accounts receivable and claims inquiries for clients as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends and actively participate in training initiatives in order to provide exceptional service and recommend appropriate coverage solutions to policyholders.
  • Support other team members.

Office Administrative Duties (Support)

  • Completing and processing of downloads
  • Preparing deposits according to payment type (cheque, electronic, cash)
  • Processing mail and issuing payment receipts.
  • Taking outgoing mail to appropriate drop off.
  • Maintain inventory track of stationery and office supplies.

What you will bring…

  • Post Secondary education in a related field.
  • 3-5 years previous experience working in property & casualty insurance including in a sale function is preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work confidently on your own or collaborate with other teams as required.
  • Knowledge in Power Broker or other Industry Management Systems.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Able to deal with difficult clients if required.
