What you will do…
- Perform rate reviews on all lines of business, as prioritized by the company. This includes

underlying data structures. - Works with regulators to complete regulated auto filings.

- Develop, improve and maintain Heartland’s datamarts for all lines of business with an
objective of deploying self-serve capabilities for the business.
What you will bring…
- University degree (Actuarial Science, Mathematics/Statistics or a related discipline).
- Successful completion of 4 to 6 exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an actuarial/data analysis role, preferably with P&C
insurance exposure or a significant educational background in a related discipline. - High Proficiency with SAS, SQL, and Excel.
- A working knowledge of Emblem would be an asset.
- A good understanding of P&C pricing and ratemaking concepts.

What you will bring…
- University degree (Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial) is preferred or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive, relevant actuarial experience.
- A minimum of 5 actuarial exams. FCAS or ACAS an asset.
- High Proficiency with SAS, SQL, and Excel.
- A thorough understanding of P&C pricing and ratemaking concepts.

What you will do…
Reporting to the Director, Analytics & Underwriting Solutions, the Underwriting Solutions Analyst is responsible in identifying, designing, providing and communicating Underwriting and Business Development solutions to systems and projects, providing direct tangible business value.
Human Resources Support
- Using knowledge of the Property & Casualty Insurance, products, rating, risk appetite, underwriting and broker/underwriting workflow, be responsible for designing underwriting and business development solutions and business requirements to deliver tangible value.
- In collaboration with Underwriting & Business Development units, drive the identification and documentation of business and system improvements, including underwriting rules, straight-through processing, Guidewire quality/efficiency improvements, Guidewire workflow optimization, and more.
- Provide business specifications for actuarial rate reviews.
- Work with IT in the creation of requirements for business and system improvements relating to Guidewire Policy Center suite plus integrations, as well as providing support/clarification on business-intent to system changes.
- In collaboration with IT, provide test-case coverage and user-acceptance on Guidewire Policy Center suite of changes.
- In collaboration with IT, support and conduct EBT, UAT, production testing as requested.
- Communicate and coach Underwriting & Business Development units on system functionality and business intent. Provide and create resources/manuals where appropriate. Communicate and understand current issues and provide/document valid workarounds.
- Support the prioritization of defects and changes. Proactively understand the business impacts of the changes to assist with scheduling.
- Maintain a log of future improvements.
- Clearly communicate business value and outline the expected benefits of implementing recommended solutions and validate that those benefits were realized.
- Maintain Heartland’s rating and underwriting manuals.
- Complete non-rating filings with the provincial regulatory boards.
- Identify, review and report on incorrectly rated policies in our book of business.
- Identify and report on competitive and industry trends.
- Monitor incoming new business and propose actions to align to risk-appetite including adjustments to Underwriting Rules.
What you will bring…
- Minimum of 5 years working in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry in either a Business Systems Analyst, underwriting or underwriting-related role.
- GuideWire Policy Center Certification is an asset.
