What you will do…

  • Translate complex business problems into implementable solution designs.
  • Leverage domain expertise in Property & Casualty insurance to ensure solutions meet underwriting, claims, rating, and compliance needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal business users, IT teams, and third-party vendors to ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Lead and support all phases of implementation including planning, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Manage change requests, release cycles, and production deployments, ensuring minimal business disruption.
  • Support vendor technical leads to ensure system design and configuration meet business requirements, and assist internal users by troubleshooting system issues, escalating defects, and recommending process
  • improvements.
  • Create test strategies, develop test cases, execute testing, and manage defect resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate system outputs against expected results.
  • Lead planning sessions, ensure timely delivery of project milestones, and establish mechanisms for monitoring the success of implemented changes and process stability.

What you will bring…

  • 5-10 years’ experience within a Senior Business Analyst and/or Project Lead role.
  • 5-10 years’ experience working in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry in any of the following capacities: Broker/Agent, Underwriting, Claims or Finance. 
  • Proven ability to create and deliver insurance solutions, specifically with Underwriting workflows and rules; complex rating, coverage, and limit scenarios; policy change transactions; renewals; and cancellations 
  • Critical thinking skills to recognize assumptions, investigate issues, evaluate arguments, draw conclusions, and proactively propose solutions. 
  • Experience and perseverance with complex problems, products, and/or integrations 
  • Process Analysis, Quality Assurance, and Project Management skills and knowledge 
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills 
  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project environments. 
  • Guidewire Policy Center Certification is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Guidewire development languages (GOSU, Java) is an asset.

Adjuster Level I, Auto Physical Damage Claims (12-Month Contract) – Waterloo, Ontario

What you will do…

  • Independently manage low-complexity physical damage claims, reviewing photos, appraisals, and repair documentation to determine liability and coverage.
  • Coordinate with appraisers, vendors, and customers to ensure timely claim resolution.
  • Handle Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) claims under the AB framework.
  • Conduct calls for more complex AB files to collect information and assess treatment needs.
  • Provide administrative support assistance as required.
  • Respond to inquiries from claimants, brokers, Agents, and Direct Sales Center staff.
  • Provide timely updates and explain coverage, claims processes, and next steps in clear and empathetic terms.
  • Work with Senior Adjusters and Team Leads to gain exposure to more complex claim types.
  • Actively handle 5-10% of assigned files as stretch claims to support career development.
  • Assist during surge periods or catastrophes with triage tasks and low-complexity claims.

What you will bring…

  • 1-2 years of insurance experience preferred; co-op or internship experience will be considered.
  • Post-secondary education in Insurance, Business, or a related field; CIP coursework in progress is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of auto damage, injury claim fundamentals, and policy interpretation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Adaptability and collaboration in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Customer-service orientation with a professional and empathetic demeanor.

Senior Corporate Actuarial Analyst – Waterloo, Ontario

What you will do…

  • Assist in preparing quarterly reserve analyses under the guidance of the Appointed Actuary.
  • Support the development and documentation of actuarial liabilities for financial reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation and peer review of the Appointed Actuary’s Report (AAAR).
  • Support the annual Financial Condition Testing (FCT) process.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses, capital impact assessments, and assist with recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to produce inputs for quarterly/annual financial statements and the organizational budget.
  • Provide reserve estimates, claims projections, and trend analysis to assist in budget planning and forecasting.
  • Design and execute queries using SAS, SQL, etc. to extract and validate large datasets.
  • Develop visuals and reports for internal use, Board reporting, and executive briefings.
  • Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of actuarial models, especially in ResQ.
  • Support the implementation of enhancements to reserving, capital modelling, or profitability analysis frameworks.

What you will bring…

  • University degree (Actuarial Science, Mathematics/Statistics or a related discipline). 
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an actuarial/data analysis role, preferably with P&C insurance exposure, or a significant educational background in a related financial services environment.
  • Successful completion of 4 to 6 exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • High proficiency in SAS, SQL, and Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity and good working knowledge of ResQ. 
  • A good understanding of P&C reserving and capital modelling concepts
  • Demonstrated strength in oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools considered an asset (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

What you will do…

  • Work within defined limits of authority, consistently providing high quality decisions that support the achievement of Heartland’s financial targets.
  • Manage a renewal portfolio of assigned clients and coordinate the discussion of renewal strategy with underwriting.
  • Review renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and payment notices, ensuring accurate processing of policy documentation.
  • Complete building evaluations using either RCT, Douglas Cost Guide, or CoreLogic.

What you will bring…

  • 2+ years of P&C insurance experience in either a sales or underwriting position.

  • Act as a primary mentor and coach for less experienced adjusters and support staff. 
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and enhance formal and informal training opportunities. 
  • Manage escalations from policyholders, brokers, adjusters, and vendors. 
  • Collaborate closely with the QA Specialist to support the claims audit and QA programs. 
  • Partner with the Training Lead to develop and deliver targeted training resources. 
  • Provide expert oversight on technical claims matters, including complex coverage determination, liability assessments, and settlement strategies. 
  • Conduct thorough bi-annual reviews of claims reserves. 
  • Assist in identifying potential fraudulent claims, working closely with adjusters and the Senior Special Investigator when necessary.
  • Assist with managing vendor relationships, proactively identifying and addressing service issues to ensure vendor accountability, performance standards, and compliance. 
  • Participate in vendor selection processes, vendor audits, and performance reviews to optimize service delivery and cost-effectiveness.

  • 5+ years experience in auto physical damage claims; supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Experience in mentorship, coaching, and professional staff development. 
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, including policyholders, brokers, adjusters, and external vendors.
