Heartland Mutual Insurance has an excellent opportunity in our Information Technology Department for a full-time, permanent Intermediate Network, Cloud and Security Administrator.

What you will do…

Platforms

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and current technologies in network, cloud, & security.
  • Interact with third-party service providers to ensure expectations for scope, quality, performance, and cost are consistently met.
  • Learn the IT platforms market, practices, products, and propose opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and drive growth.
  • Assist the Senior Network Engineer to execute a process for IT Asset Management that ensures all technology assets are effectively tracked, deployed, maintained, upgraded, decommissioned, and ensure responsible disposal.
  • Assist the subject matter expert(s) regarding cloud, security tools, and applications.
  • Participate in the creation of processes, policies, and adherence to best practices.
  • Ensure effective operation of Heartland network, cloud, and applications are in place for users.
  • Contribute to the designs of Heartland infrastructure, ensuring that platforms are appropriate for current and future needs.
  • Work with Senior Network Engineer to engage application vendors and services providers to install, configure, maintain, and support a variety of applications.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams.

Cybersecurity

  • Ensure operational effectiveness of network security components for enterprise and cloud environments such as firewalls, VPN and network devices.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of security standards and best practices.
  • Assist the Senior Network Engineer in the execution of the delivery of the Cybersecurity roadmap, providing updates on progress and tracking changes in Heartland’s Cyber risk and security posture.
  • Promote Cybersecurity awareness throughout the organization, spreading knowledge of threats, best practices, and effective use of training tools.
  • Participate in the delivery of cybersecurity and resiliency activities including tabletop exercises, DR tests, and penetration tests.
  • Provide assistance to MDR and SIEM service providers to ensure continuous detection and response capabilities, and comprehensive logging to enable investigation and containment.
  • Operate IAM tools and processes to manage digital identities, control access, streamline onboarding, offboarding, and role changes, and inform access audits.
  • Provide input and assistance into creating procedures and processes for security events. Assist in security event investigation, containment, reporting, and reviewing for continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and training to other IT staff on cloud security best practices.

Operations & Support

  • Provide Level 1/2 operational support of networks, applications, and hybrid cloud environments, including the following technologies:
    • Routing & Switching.
    • Network security: Firewalls, VPN solutions.
    • Load balancers.
  • Public Cloud solutions.
  • Monitor performance issues with network architecture and assist Senior Network Engineer in diagnosing of issues.
  • Manage Azure resources and services, including virtual machines, virtual networks, Azure backups, and storage accounts.
  • Assist in the administration of Office 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and other applications.
  • Understanding of optimization and tuning of cloud monitoring systems and processes.
  • Respond to and evaluate alerts and events from security tools and service providers.
  • Ensure internal service levels for performance and availability of platforms and applications are tracked and consistently achieved.

What you will bring…

  • College Diploma in a related discipline or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years in relevant Technology roles.
  • Understanding of Network & Security device management.
  • Understanding of Cloud design, deployment, and management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with IAM tools and practices.
  • Good knowledge of Windows platforms, Office 365, and MS Defender.
  • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and best practices.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
    o English language requirement.
  • Experience in Insurance Technology an asset.

Salary range: $69,995 – $91,194 per annum
